This course will cover the specific NCAA rules concerning ethical conduct, amateurism, recruiting, extra benefits and institutional control. These matters will be discussed by citation to the specific NCAA rules and the use of numerous NCAA reports on universities who violated these rules. (The NCAA Reports do not reveal the names of coaches or student-athletes involved in the violations. Any names provided in this course concerning NCAA Public Infractions Reports have been obtained from various media.) Additionally, this course will discuss court decisions involving the NCAA in the fields of antitrust, due process and discrimination.
