The instructor
for this course is Robert M Lloyd. Professor Lloyd came to the UT College of Law
in 1983 after a successful career in commercial law with the Los Angeles firm of
Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton. He helped
to develop UT's new concentration in business transactions and served as
the first director of the college's Center for Entrepreneurial Law.
Professor Lloyd is the author of Secured Transactions and has had numerous
articles on commercial lending transactions published.
This course is the third in a series of three courses designed to
give you a basic understanding of the changes made by Revised Article 9. It
covers the new rules governing security agreements (including electronic
security agreements) and financing statements. Under Revised Article 9,
many financing statements will be filed in offices different from those in
which a filing was made under the old statute. This course takes you
step-by-step through these changes. It also explains the new rules for
possessory security interests and the provisions that allow new methods of
perfection for familiar types of collateral (such as filing to perfect
security interests in promissory notes).
